Medical Check-Up Bali FAQ — Fasting, Walk-Ins, Results & More

Medical
Check-Up in Bali: Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about a Bali medical check-up come
down to six things: how much it costs, whether you need to fast, whether
you can walk in or must book, how fast you’ll get results, what to
bring, and whether you’ll be seen in English.
This page answers
all of those plainly and links you to the deeper guides for each. We
answer your questions; we don’t sell a package.

Cost and Payment

How much does a
medical check-up in Bali cost?

Basic screening starts around IDR 1,500,000 (about USD 95), standard
“full body” packages run IDR 3,000,000–6,000,000 (USD 190–380), and
comprehensive or executive packages reach IDR 8,000,000–12,000,000+ (USD
510–760+). See the full breakdown in our price guide.

Is it cheaper
than getting a check-up at home?

For most visitors from Singapore, Australia, Europe or North America,
yes — often dramatically. Bali delivers comparable accredited testing
for a fraction of the cost, which is why it’s become a screening
destination. We compare destinations in our Bali vs Singapore and Bali vs Thailand guides.

Can I pay
by card, and is the price the final amount?

Most international-facing facilities accept cards, but confirm in
advance. Published prices are indicative; always get a firm quote for
your chosen package — our concierge can pull a live quote.

Will my international
insurance cover it?

Some facilities work with international insurers for cashless or
reimbursement claims; many routine screenings are paid out of pocket.
Check our insurance-acceptance guide
and confirm with your insurer first.

Preparation and Fasting

Do I need to
fast before a Bali medical check-up?

Usually yes. Packages that include blood sugar and lipid tests
require 8–12 hours of fasting for accurate results.
Water is generally allowed; avoid food, juice, coffee with milk and
sugar. Your clinic will confirm based on your package.

Can I drink water and
take my medication?

Water is normally fine. For regular medication, ask the clinic in
advance — some (like diabetes medication) interact with fasting tests
and may need timing adjustments. Never stop prescribed medication
without medical advice.

What should I bring?

Bring a photo ID/passport, a list of your current medications, any
prior test results or relevant medical history, and your insurance
details if you intend to claim. Wear comfortable clothing, especially if
a treadmill stress test is included.

What’s the best time of day to
go?

Morning, because of the fasting requirement — you can eat afterward.
Booking the first slot also tends to mean a shorter wait and faster lab
processing.

Booking, Walk-Ins and Timing

Can I just walk
in, or do I need an appointment?

Some clinics accept walk-ins for basic screening, but for a full
check-up — and to guarantee fasting-dependent tests run that morning —
booking ahead is strongly recommended. Many facilities in Sanur,
Denpasar and Kuta offer same-week or even same-day appointments.

How long does a check-up
take?

A standard package usually takes two to four hours on site, depending
on how many tests and scans are involved and how busy the facility is.
Executive packages with imaging take longer.

How far in advance should I
book?

A few days is usually enough for a standard package, but for
executive packages with CT/MRI or for a specific specialist, book
earlier. Our concierge can check live
availability for your dates.

Results and Reporting

How fast will I get my
results?

Many results are ready the same day or next day; some specialised
tests take longer. A good facility gives you a clear written report you
can take home — confirm turnaround before booking, especially if you’re
leaving Bali soon.

Will I get a
report I can take to my own doctor?

You should. Insist on a clear, exportable report, ideally in English.
The ability to share results with your home physician is a key quality
signal — see how to vet a
clinic
.

Will a doctor explain my
results?

At a good facility, yes — a consultation to interpret your results is
what makes a screening useful rather than just a sheet of numbers.
Confirm the package includes a doctor consultation, not just tests.

Language, Safety and
Logistics

Will the doctor speak
English?

At international clinics and hospitals, generally yes, and
interpreter support is often available. Confirm doctor-level English
(not just reception) for your appointment. See our verified English-speaking clinic
list
.

Are Bali clinics safe and
accredited?

Accredited facilities — especially JCI-accredited international
hospitals and the new Sanur health zone — are safe and suitable for
screening. Standards vary, so verify each facility. Our accreditation guide shows how.

Do I need a check-up
for a visa or to fly?

Some visas and airlines require a medical or fit-to-fly certificate.
These are usually quick to arrange at the right clinic — see our fit-to-fly guide.

Can someone arrange
the whole thing for me?

Yes. Once you’ve chosen a facility, our partner JHG Medical Concierge
arranges the booking, an interpreter and transfers at no cost. Send your details.
