Short answer: Bali’s strongest women’s health
screening is found at its international-standard hospitals — BIMC,
Siloam and Bali International Hospital — which offer “well-woman”
packages bundling a Pap smear or HPV test, breast examination and
ultrasound or mammography, pelvic ultrasound, and core blood work,
typically for IDR 1,500,000–6,500,000 (USD 94–408)
depending on inclusions. Standalone tests cost less; comprehensive
packages with a gynaecologist consultation cost more. The deciding
factors are an English-speaking female doctor (if you prefer one),
accredited imaging, and a clear follow-up pathway for any abnormal
result.

What a
women’s health screening typically covers in Bali
A well-woman screening is modular. Most Bali providers build packages
from these components:
- Cervical screening — Pap smear and/or HPV
testing. - Breast screening — clinical breast exam plus
ultrasound (younger women) or mammography (age/risk-based). - Pelvic ultrasound — to assess the uterus and
ovaries. - Core blood panel — full blood count, iron studies,
thyroid, glucose and lipids. - Hormone and fertility markers — when relevant (e.g.
FSH, LH, AMH, prolactin). - Bone-density (DEXA) — for peri/post-menopausal
women or those with risk factors. - Gynaecologist consultation — to interpret
everything and advise.
To understand each test individually, our tests-explained pillar breaks them down,
and our cancer screening
guide covers the oncology-relevant ones (Pap, mammography) in
depth.
How we compared women’s
health providers
We score every provider the same way as across our full clinics and hospitals
directory:
- Accreditation — KARS and, where relevant, JCI;
imaging and pathology under recognised standards. - Female-doctor availability & English — many
women specifically request a female, English-speaking
gynaecologist. - Package transparency — clear inclusions and IDR
pricing, with USD estimates. - Follow-up pathway — is there a route from “abnormal
result” to specialist care?
These mirror the criteria in our how-to-choose buyer’s guide.

Where the
international-standard hospitals stand out
For women’s screening specifically, the hospital tier earns its
premium. Mammography, pelvic ultrasound and Pap interpretation all
benefit from accredited imaging and a gynaecologist who can act on
findings the same day. If a Pap returns abnormal, having colposcopy and
specialist follow-up under one roof is a genuine advantage over a
standalone clinic. We compare the three most-searched facilities in our
BIMC vs Siloam
vs Bali International Hospital piece.
Boutique and expat clinics still have a place — they’re excellent for
an unhurried consultation, contraception advice, and routine Pap smears,
and they often partner with a hospital lab for the assays. If you value
convenience and conversation over a one-stop imaging suite, a clinic in
Sanur, Ubud or Canggu may suit you.
Choosing by life stage
- 20s–30s: cervical screening, contraception review,
and baseline bloods; breast ultrasound rather than mammography for dense
tissue. - Trying to conceive / fertility questions: add AMH
and hormone profiling, and pelvic ultrasound; choose a provider with a
gynaecologist on staff. - 40s: introduce mammography on a guideline- and
risk-based schedule; continue cervical screening. - Peri/post-menopause: add bone-density (DEXA) and
review cardiovascular risk; hormone discussion as needed.
Medical disclaimer: This guide is for information
only and is not medical advice. The appropriate screenings, their
frequency and the interpretation of results depend on your age, history
and individual risk — always consult a licensed physician (ideally a
gynaecologist). MedicalCheckupBali is independent and does not own or
operate any clinic.
Why interpretation
and follow-up matter most
The World Health Organization is clear that cervical and breast
screening reduce mortality only when delivered within a system that
ensures timely diagnosis and treatment of those who screen positive —
screening without a reliable follow-up pathway delivers little benefit
(World Health Organization, Cervical Cancer: Screening and Treatment
of Precancer Lesions, who.int). When you compare Bali providers,
weight the follow-up pathway heavily, not just the headline
package price. A slightly more expensive package at a hospital with a
gynaecology department and colposcopy on-site can be far better value
than a cheaper standalone test with no route forward.
A note on language and
comfort
Many international patients tell us comfort matters as much as
clinical quality — a female doctor, a chaperone, and clear English
explanation can make the difference between a screening you complete and
one you avoid. When you contact us, say if you’d prefer a female,
English-speaking gynaecologist and we’ll prioritise providers who can
offer that. Our verified English-speaking
doctors list is a useful starting point.
Build it into your annual
review
A women’s screening is often best folded into a complete annual
check-up so a doctor reviews everything together. See how it fits in our
full body check-up explainer and compare

medical check-ups guide. If you’re an expat planning a yearly
review, our family
health check-up guide covers screening the whole household.
